Marsha P. Johnson (1945–1992) was a pioneering Black transgender activist, drag queen, and key figure in the 1969 Stonewall uprising. Known as a "street queen" and beloved NYC community figure, she co-founded the Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (STAR) with Sylvia Rivera to support homeless LGBTQ+ youth. She was a prominent AIDS activist with ACT UP and a Warhol model, famously embodying the "pay it no mind" philosophy.
